Teaching Multimodal Narratives for Foreign Language Learning
Three multimodal analyses of genres used in German FL instruction (a children's story, graphic novel, and digital game) show how non-linguistic semiotic modes (visual, aural, etc.) can support, enhance, or contradict word meanings in texts. Presenters offer strategies for teaching multimodal texts and describe how L2 learners process such meanings.
