duties of the aausc president

The following is a list of duties in chronological order. It does not include ad hoc responsibilities (e.g., working with the MLA on their staffing ratio discussion, ADFL seminar, mentoring program, etc.)

Beginning of January:

Submit proposal to ACTFL for AAUSC Business session. This should be marked as an "AAUSC session." Note that this can be done on the web (http://www.actfl.org).

January-February:

Organize presentations or panel discussion for Business session. If the format and speakers have been identified at the ACTFL meeting, include this in the proposal submitted in January.

March:

Submit final program to ACTFL.

September:

Make arrangements with the hotel (it is often necessary to check with ACTFL also, to be sure rooms have been released) to book a room for the AAUSC Executive Board meeting. It’s also wise to check with Sally Magnan that the chosen time does not conflict with the Editorial Board meeting.

October or November:

Send out Agenda of Executive meeting to Board.

In the second year of the term, elections need to be held for new officers. Details of this process are contained in the bylaws.

ACTFL:

Preside at the Executive Board meeting and the Business meeting.
