Holly J. Nibert is Associate Professor of Hispanic Linguistics and Director of the Spanish and Portuguese Language Programs at The Ohio State University, one of the largest basic language programs in the country. She teaches courses across the curriculum, including the graduate seminar in second language teaching methodology. She oversees all training, mentoring, and professional development initiatives related to Spanish and Portuguese basic language instruction, and she designs the curricula, syllabi, and assessments for these course sequences. Her research interests concern the acquisition of L2 Spanish pronunciation, as well as the principles and practices of second language classroom instruction, instructor training, and language program direction. She is co-author of two Spanish language textbooks published by Pearson:  ¡Arriba! Comunicación y cultura and Día a día. Prior to joining OSU in 2014, Holly served for 15 years as Director of the First-Year Spanish Language Program at Western Michigan University. She was awarded the WMU Distinguished Teaching Award in 2013 and also received numerous teaching awards as a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
